Bell Helicopter
Textron 407
The
Bell 407 is new to Universal's fleet and represents the
cutting edge in light helicopter technology. Universal was
one of the first operators in the world to utilize the 407
and it has proved it's worth supporting drill move operations
in Northern Labrador and fire suppression duties across
the country. All stakeholders; pilots, engineers and customers,
are pleased with its performance and reliability and as
one of the first operators of this aircraft, UHNL has positioned
itself to be one of the most experienced with this new technology.
The 407 boasts a very high power to weight ratio, partial
composite construction, digital fuel control and power plant
monitoring and a widened cabin and window area providing
extra passenger comfort and visibility. |

Helicopter Textron 206 L4
The
L4 utilizes the classic 'L' airframe, but with extensive
structural improvements and power increases. UHNL's L4 has
seen intensive use in Northern Labrador over the last two
years supporting mineral exploration activities and has
demonstrated exceptional reliability and performance. UHNL's
L4 has a 'High Altitude Tail Rotor' kit providing drastically
improved hover performance during hot and high operations.
This is one of only two such configured commercial aircraft
in North America. |
UHNL's
206L4 has the following specifications:
Maximum gross weight of 4,440 lbs. ( 4,550 lbs. external load
)
250 pounds of rear baggage compartment storage
Cargo Hook capacity of 2000 lbs
Endurance- 3.0 hours
Cruise speed- 140 mph
Fuel Consumption- 160 litres per hour
Full intercom with headsets
Global Positioning System equipment (Manufacturer: Apollo
or Trimble)
VHF ,HF and programmable FM radios
Electric Auxiliary fuel pump assembly for refuelling from
drums
Emergency ration and survival kit including sleeping bags
and tent
Ambulance configuration for carrying stretcher kits
Wedge windows allowing for more room in the back seat. |

| Bell
Helicopter Textron 206L/R
This
time tested seven place airframe has been refitted with
the Allison 250-C20R engine which gives, on average, 14%
better performance over the original powerplant. We have
experienced much more efficient operations, particularly
in hot and humid conditions, combined with reduced unscheduled
maintenance since this airframe/powerplant combination was
introduced to UHNL in 1990.UHNL operates the largest fleet
of C-20R engined aircraft in North America. |
| UHNL's
Bell 206 L-R has the following specifications:
250 pounds of rear baggage compartment storage
Cargo Hook capacity of 1500 lbs. (short hauls )
Endurance- 3.5 hours
Cruise speed- 130 mph (on skids) 115 mph (on fixed floats)
Fuel Consumption- 130 litres per hour
Full intercom with headsets
Global Positioning System equipment (Trimble)
VHF ,HF and programmable FM radios
Electric Auxiliary fuel pump assembly for refuelling from
drums
Emergency ration and survival kit including sleeping bags
and tent

Introduced
into Universal's fleet in 1998, the AS350BA utilizes the
popular Astar open cabin configuration with increased power
and lifting capacity over the AS350B. The Astar cabin allows
excellent forward visibility for both front and rear seat
passengers and has a maximum seating capacity of five passengers
and one crew. |
| UHNL's
AS350BA has the following specifications:
